🎉 Early Access Available
The new SMS Messaging feature is now available for Early Access.
📝 Overview
The SMS Messaging add-on lets you send text messages, using a toll-free number that Dash provisions and manages for your account. You don't need a Twilio account, console access, SID, or Auth Token.
Automated event reminders are sent with the same timing and opt-in rules you use today.
Broadcasts can be sent from Customer Search and from a roster using Send Message. Message composition and customer segmentation work the same way.
A segment is 160 characters, the unit the messaging service counts for each message. Longer messages may use more than one segment.
Your plan includes 1,000 free segments per billing cycle. Extra segments are $0.020 each and are billed monthly on your DaySmart invoice.
SMS by Dash is one-way. It doesn't support two-way texting or reply threads.
🔑 Authorizations

🔄 Switching from Your Own Twilio

✍️ Note: If you already use your own Twilio account and had the Twilio add-on turned on, you can keep sending on that number while SMS Messaging verification is pending. Once SMS Messaging is live, Dash turns off the Twilio add-on for you automatically. You don't need to take any action. Your Twilio account and credentials stay saved.
While SMS Messaging is live, the Twilio add-on doesn't appear on the Integrations & Add-ons page.
To switch back to your own Twilio account, turn off SMS Messaging by Dash first:
Select Manage on the SMS Messaging card.
Select Disable SMS.
Turn the Twilio add-on back on. Your saved Twilio credentials are still there.
✍️ Note: Turning off SMS Messaging doesn't turn the Twilio add-on back on. You need to turn it on yourself.
💰 Usage & Spending Limit

Click the arrow to learn how to track usage and set a spending limit
The SMS Messaging slide-out shows how many segments you've used against your 1,000 free segments for the current billing cycle. Your monthly usage resets at the start of each billing cycle.
The spending limit is controlled by the Auto-pause SMS at spending limit toggle. When the toggle is on, you can set a Monthly overage cap ($). The cap applies only to overage spending beyond the 1,000 free segments. An estimated segment count appears below the cap so you can see roughly how many segments you can send before SMS pauses.
With a cap of $0.00, SMS pauses once you reach 1,000 segments in the billing cycle.
With a dollar cap, SMS pauses once overage spending reaches that amount.
If you lower the cap during a billing cycle and your current spending is already above the new cap, SMS pauses right away.
A multi-segment message that's already in progress finishes before the pause takes effect.
🧠 Example: If your cap is $0.00 and you reach 1,000 segments in the middle of the billing cycle, SMS pauses. Messages sent while SMS is paused are not held and are not sent later.
When SMS pauses, you'll see this message: SMS paused — your spending limit has been reached. Sending resumes at the start of the next billing cycle, as long as the toggle stays on.

You can set how each reminder is sent in Company Settings:
Go to Company Settings, then select Company in the left menu.
Scroll to the Customer Settings section.
For each reminder, select the dropdown next to it and choose Email only or Email and SMS. The reminders are Membership Reminders, Schedule Reminders, and Waiver Reminders.
Each reminder also has a Days field that sets how many days before the event the reminder is sent.
Turning off SMS by Dash doesn't turn off email reminders. If neither SMS path is enabled, Email only is the only option, and it can't be changed.
💡 Pro Tips
🔎 Check the usage line before a large send so you know how many of your 1,000 free segments remain.
📌 Set a dollar cap you're comfortable with before a busy period, so SMS doesn't pause in the middle of a send.
✅ Before you lower your spending cap, check your current spend. If you're already over the new cap, SMS pauses right away.
🧭 Leave room below your cap. A multi-segment message already in progress finishes before the pause takes effect, so spend can exceed a cap set exactly at your limit.
📤 Check the Email Report after a campaign. It shows delivered and failed texts, and each failed text includes its reason.

Texting STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT stops future texts from that business. Email preferences don't change. Opting out of texts in the Customer Portal works the same way: texts stop, and email can stay on.
Can I share one toll-free number across organizations?
