Learn how to quickly search for products in Dash using filters, the global search bar, and the product list view.

📝 Overview

Searching makes it easy to locate products across your entire system—whether you’re checking availability, confirming details like GL codes or tax settings, or troubleshooting inactive items. From the product search page, you can filter results by category, location, or specific identifiers, and even export the data for reporting.

Use the Global Search and type "Product", or go to Cash Register → Products.


🔎 How to Search for a Product

  1. Once on the Product page, there are filters on the left side:

    • Product Name

    • GL Code

    • Category

    • Discount Code

    • Locations

  2. Select checkboxes to show inactive products, tax information, or product locations.

    Note ✍️: If you leave all filters blank and click Search, the system will display all active products.

  3. Click Search.

You can also:

  • Click the + icon to create a new product.

  • Use Manage Selected Products to apply discounts, GL codes, or programs in bulk.

  • Export results to CSV or PDF for reporting needs.

  • ⚡ Use the Global Search box (top-right) for quick access without navigating menus.

  • 📌 Combine filters (like Category + Location) to narrow down results efficiently.

  • 🧠 Keep inactive products hidden unless you’re troubleshooting historical records.

  • ⛔ Don’t forget: Leaving filters blank will return all active products—use with caution for large inventories.

Can I access a product using the UPC code?

Yes. On the Cash Register page, enter the UPC code in the Search POS or Enter UPC field. This will add the product directly to the cart. Once in the cart, click the product name to open its product setup page.

How do I search across multiple locations?

Select “All Locations” from the filter dropdown to search across every location.

Can I see inactive products?

Click the arrow to see the answer

Yes. Enable the Show Inactive Products checkbox on the filter panel. This will display all active products along with inactive products. Inactive products will include an inactive” label after the product name (e.g., 1 HamsterBall Hour Rental (1 Hour) inactive).

Can I export product search results?

Yes, click CSV or PDF to export the results list.

What happens when I toggle “Show Tax Information” or “Show Product Locations”?

Turning on Show Tax Information or Show Product Locations adds an extra sortable column to the results table with those details. You can click the column header to sort by tax info or by product locations.

Why do I only see 50 products at a time with many pages?

Results are paginated. Use the Show 50 entries dropdown at the top-right of the table to switch to Show All entries and view the full list on a single page. If you have a large catalog, loading “All” may take a bit longer.
