Tournaments and Cups

Learn how to create a Tournaments and Cups program type so customers can easily find and register for tournament events within the Customer Portal.

πŸ“ Overview

Creating a custom Program Type such as Tournaments or Tournaments and Cups allows you to clearly separate tournament-style events from other offerings in the Customer Portal.

When customers browse their registration options, they will see the Program Type first, helping them quickly identify where to register for a tournament instead of selecting options like Adult Indoor Soccer or Youth Leagues. This structure improves organization, reduces confusion, and makes tournament registration easier to find online.


πŸ› οΈ Create the Program Type

Click the arrow to learn how to create a Program Type for tournaments

  1. Navigate to the Programs drop down menu and select Program Types

  2. Click "+" to add a new Program

  3. Enter a name such as Tournaments or Tournaments and Cups

  4. Add a description

  5. Toggle Team Management to On

  6. Click Save

Turning on Team Management allows teams to be created and managed within this Program Type, which is commonly required for tournament-style registration.

✍️ Note: The name and description entered here are what customers will see when browsing registration options in the Customer Portal.


πŸ“… Create the Tournament Season

Click the arrow to build a League Season using your new Program Type

  1. Navigate to the Programs drop down menu and select Seasons

  2. Click "+" to add a new Season

  3. Enter the Season name and dates

  4. Select your newly created Program Type

Continue filling out the Season form just as you would for any other league or program Season. When finished, click Save.

🧩 Add Levels for Divisions

Click the arrow to create divisions within your tournament Season

  1. Open the Season

  2. Click "+" to add a new Level

  3. Enter the division name (example: U12 Boys, U14 Girls, Men's B)

Continue configuring the Level just as you would for any other league or program Level, including pricing, capacity, and registration settings.

When finished, click Save New Level.

Click the arrow to see how tournaments appear in the Customer Portal

Once your Season is published and registration is active:

  • From the Customer Portal, click on Register

  • Program Types appear first (for example, Tournaments and Cups) listed alongside other program categories

  • Click View on the Program

  • See the available Levels (divisions)

  • Select the division by clicking Register

  • Complete registration and payment

✍️ Note: Because the Program Type is clearly labeled, customers can easily distinguish tournaments from other offerings such as leagues or classes during registration.
