Written by Angel Horowitz

📝 Overview

The Constant Contact integration allows you to export customer lists directly into your Constant Contact account for email marketing campaigns.

Before enabling the integration, you must already have an active Constant Contact account. The connection is completed by logging into Constant Contact through the authorization window inside the software.

Once connected, you can:

  • Export filtered customer lists

  • Create or update Constant Contact lists

  • Build and send campaigns in Constant Contact

  • View basic campaign activity from the admin side

📤 Export Customer Lists

Dash has the ability to export customer lists from the customer search tool directly into a new or existing Constant Contact list. However, email verification status is not included in direct exports. If you need to target customers by their verification status, see the workaround section below.

⬇️ Direct Export to Constant Contact

You can quickly export a filtered customer list directly from Dash into Constant Contact with just a few clicks.

Click the arrow to learn how to export a list

⚠️ Important notes about exporting:

  • Customers that have opted out of receiving all emails in Dash and customers with bounce codes are not exported to Constant Contact.

  • Email verification status is not included in direct exports. If you need to include verification status in Constant Contact, see the workaround section below.

  • When exporting to Constant Contact, parental information is exported instead of child's information (if included).

  • If someone has opted out in Constant Contact, it does not opt them out of emails sent through Dash. The communication is a one way street (Dash to Constant Contact only).

Steps:

  1. Click on the Customers drop down menu in Dash

  2. Select Search, Email & Text

  3. Apply filters to generate your desired customer list

  4. Click the Constant Contact button

✍️ Note: The button will only display if the Constant Contact account has been integrated to the Dash account.

  5. Choose an existing list or create a new list

  6. Click Export

✅ Including Email Verification Status in Your Constant Contact List

If you want to target customers by their email verification status (for example, to send a verification reminder campaign), you'll need to export as a CSV, clean the list in Excel, and manually import it into Constant Contact with a custom field for verification status. This allows you to segment by verification status once the list is in Constant Contact.

Click the arrow to learn how to export verification status

In Dash:

  1. Click on the Customers drop down menu in Dash

  2. Select Search, Email & Text

  3. Apply filters to generate your desired customer list (or use no filters to get all customers)

  4. Click the CSV button to export the list as a spreadsheet

✍️ Note: The CSV export includes email verification status in a dedicated column (labeled "Email Status").

In Excel or Your Data Tool:

  5. Open the exported CSV file in Excel or your preferred data tool

  6. Review the Email Status column to identify which customers are verified or unverified

  7. Filter or remove rows to keep only the contacts you want (for example, delete all verified emails to create a list of only unverified customers)

  8. Save this cleaned-up file with a descriptive name (for example, "Unverified_Emails_[Date].csv")

    In Constant Contact:

  9. Log into your Constant Contact account

  10. Navigate to Contacts > Add Contacts > Upload from File

  11. Select the cleaned-up CSV file you created

  12. In the Field Mapping workflow, Constant Contact will display the columns from your CSV. Map the Email Status column to a new custom field and label it Verification Status (or your preferred label)

  13. Complete the import. You now have a list in Constant Contact with verification status as a custom field that you can use to segment or target customers

💡 Pro Tip: Use a clear list name (like "Unverified Emails - [Date]") to easily identify and manage these contacts in Constant Contact.

📌 Important Export Details

Click the arrow to review export limitations

  • Customers who have opted out of emails will not export

  • Customers with bounce codes will not export

  • Parent contact details export instead of child contact details

  • Opt-outs inside Constant Contact do not automatically sync back

  • Email verification status is not included in direct Constant Contact exports. To include verification status, use the CSV export workaround described in the "✅ Including Email Verification Status in Your Constant Contact List" section above. The CSV export includes an "Email Status" column that you can map to a custom field in Constant Contact.
